Helen Sedgwick

Wildland Founding Editor

Helen Sedgwick was the Managing Director of Cargo Publishing. She is a freelance writer and literary editor, with an MLitt (Distinction) in creative writing from Glasgow University and a PhD from Edinburgh University. She is co-founding editor of the literary magazine Fractured West and was managing editor of Gutter magazine until 2014. As a literary editor, Helen has worked with McSweeney’s, Freight Books, Cargo Publishing, and Jenny Brown Associates, and she has taught creative writing for Glasgow, Strathclyde, Stirling, and Edinburgh University.

Helen’s debut novel The Comet Seekers was published in 2016 by Harvill Secker in the UK and HarperCollins in the US and Canada. Her second novel, The Growing Season, will be published in 2017 and her short fiction has been published internationally and broadcast on BBC Radio 4. She founded Wildland Literary Editors in 2012.

Viccy Adams

Viccy Adams is a freelance writer and editor. She has a PhD in creative writing from Newcastle University and is a former Leverhulme Trust writer-in-residence at the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh. An experienced creative writing facilitator and mentor, she is also an accredited coach with a specialism in working with writers.

Viccy’s writing has been exhibited at the V&A, hung on trees, burnt to fuel a sauna, and translated into Chinese. Her short fiction has been published widely in literary magazines and anthologies, and her debut collection of creative non-fiction was published by Cargo in 2015. Her app for iPad, Recollections: 12 vignettes from Lashihai, was shortlisted for the New Media Writing Prize and won the People’s Choice Award. Her work has been awarded grants by the British Council, Arts Council England, Leverhulme Trust, and the Arts and Humanities Research Council. Find out more on twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
