At Wildland we know that every writer and every story is different, so we tailor our services for each individual author. Our editorial services are summarised below, from line editing to in-depth consultancy, and these services are available for all genres and lengths of writing.

Blitz The Book

A Wildland editor will read your book and provide you with a three page written report detailing editorial comments and suggestions for the work.

Up to 60,000 words – £300

Structural Edit

A Wildland editor will read your book and provide you with a detailed structural editorial report looking at issues such as plot, pace, point of view, voice, dialogue and characterisation, and detailing editorial comments and suggestions for the work.

Up to 100,000 words – £800

Line Edit

We offer a line edit for writers who have a finished or close-to-finished manuscript, which will ensure consistency of style, tense, point of view, voice, narration, characterisation, and accuracy of spelling and grammar. Manuscript will be delivered either with changes made, or with suggestions marked within the text, as the author prefers.

The line edit service is available for all lengths of work, from short stories to novel. The price range is dependent on word count as follows:

Novels up to 60,000 words – £800
Novels up to 100,000 words – £1000

Full Editorial Service

This detailed service includes an extensive structural editorial report, and a subsequent line edit with editorial comments marked throughout the text. Ideal for writers who want a comprehensive literary critique of their work, the written report will cover topics such as prose style and technique, character development, plot, structure, narration, point of view, setting, pace and dramatic tension, while the subsequent line edit will then look at the finer details of the prose.

The editorial service is available for all lengths of work, from short stories to novel. The price range is dependent on word count and corresponding depth of critique as follows:

Short stories up to 5000 words – £200
Novels up to 60,000 words – £1000
Novels up to 100,000 words – £1400

Literary Consultancy

The literary consultancy service includes everything offered in the full editorial service, with additional discussions or tutorials, and subsequent reviews of the manuscript. This service can be tailored to each individual’s requirements, and can vary from an in-depth edit and tutorial, up to a six-month collaboration between writer and editor to produce the best possible book.

This service provides the kind of longterm and detailed advice that can make a lasting difference to a writer’s career. As well as editorial feedback, your editor will provide support and guidance, advice about how to contact agents or publishers, and suggestions about how gain exposure for your work.

Price will be dependant on the details of each individual project, and you will be working with Wildland founder and editor Helen Sedgwick.

The Mini Critique

This is an editorial service that looks at the first chapter and synopsis of a novel to see if it is on the right track. Ideal for writers who are preparing to send the first chapter and synopsis to agents/publishers, or for writers who are in the early stages of trying out a new idea.

Synopsis and Chapter One (up to 5000 words) – £200
